At the Center for Learning Technologies in Urban Schools (LeTUS), we strive to seed and sustain the growth of critical thinking in science in middle schools and beyond.
By developing inquiry-driven, project-based and technology-rich middle-school science curricula in which students learn science by doing science, the partners in LeTUS -
Chicago Public Schools
Northwestern University
Detroit Public Schools
University of Michigan
- commit to urban education reform by enabling students to ask and answer meaningful questions through investigative science projects.
Doing science - and being scientists - is the best way for students to learn science content. LeTUS' mission is to make the necessary tools and curricula available to all students so they can do just that.
LeTUS' technology-rich curricula incorporate various computer technologies to collect, store, analyze and visualize scientific data. These technologies include computer databases and other applications; the Internet; remote data sensors; and multimedia presentation tools.
