The Detroit Public School system is committed to classroom use of technology, and has implemented a system-wide initiative to support that goal. Detroit has set implementation benchmarks and, in particular, emphasizes equitable distribution of technological tools. Measurement and assessment of the effective use of technology is also integral to the Detroit plan.
The University of Michigan works with more than a dozen schools in the Detroit Public School system. The curricula used are based on Project 2061's Benchmarks and the NRC's standards as well as Michigan content standards as reflected in DPS' curriculum standards.
